The Residential Program is the heart of Casa de Esperanza. These family-centered homes are loving and nurturing due to the efforts of a committed staff of live-in caregivers.

Residential ProgramsAgency Foster Homes
Casa de Esperanza staff members provide graduating levels of care from temporary emergency placements to long term foster care, depending on the needs of children in placement at any given time.

Community Foster Homes
Foster parents in the community care for children in stable family homes, allowing children to form attachments, improve developmental and socialization skills and deal with their emotional issues in a safe and supportive atmosphere.

  • 109 specialist visits
  • 81 dental visits

Developmental services

  • 69 developmental evaluations
  • 1,451 hours of physical, occupational, speech and nutrition therapies

Psychological services

  • 979 psychology consultations
  • Monthly psychiatric clinic

 

Our Children

  • The average age at admission was 23 months.
  • 63% have a documented history of abuse or neglect requiring intervention.
  • 30% of the children were homeless at the time of admission.
  • 18% of the children were reported to be prenatally exposed to drugs and/or alcohol.
  • 13% of the children wre borth to HIV+ mothers.
  • 39% have significant medical, psychological and/or behavioral problems.

The ethnicity of the children is as follows:

  • 47% are African-American
  • 10% are Hispanic
  • 24% are Caucasian
  • 18% are Bi-Racial
  • 1% are Asian

 

Our Families

  • 29% of the mothers are reported to be mentally ill.
  • 52% of the mothers and 46% of the fathers have a criminal record and 10% of the mothers and 17% of the fathers are currently incarcerated.
  • 53% of the mothers have a reported history of drug and/or alcohol abuse.
  • 98% of the mothers are unemployed.

Casa de Esperanza's residences are licensed under the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

It is the policy of Casa de Esperanza that no family is charged for services provided by the agency.
