Hosted for the 19th year by Lucia and Michael Cordúa and chaired by Virginia and Dan Steppe and Alissa and Kevin Maples, the 2008 Building Hope for Children gala at the Hobby Center on April 27 raised over $550,000, a new record for Casa! The Big Boards and the Live Auction created much excitement and competition for the wonderful and unique items. ABC Channel 13’s Tom Koch, as Master of Ceremonies and Auctioneer, outdid himself in encouraging the bidders this year! This event provided a signifi cant contribution to Casa’s 2008 operating budget! We are grateful to all of our sponsors, auction donors and purchasers, and to everyone who attended!

Our Funding

Casa de Esperanza is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, which relies entirely upon the generosity of the community. One hundred percent of the operating budget is raised from private sources. No government or public funds are accepted, nor is Casa affiliated with the United Way. No fees are charged for any of Casa de Esperanza's services. Casa de Esperanza meets the Better Business Bureau's Guides for Giving and is listed in the Better Business Bureau's Report on Philanthropy in Houston.
