If you wish to foster and adopt, the first step is to attend a mandatory orientation session about Casa de Esperanza.  In this 1-2 hour session, concepts regarding our philosophy and program operation are discussed. 

Orientation sessions are held:

The second Wednesday of each month at 6:00PM

The fourth Saturday of each month at 10:00AM

You must RSVP to attend a session by emailing: blanchard@casahope.org

The foster parent process begins with volunteering in our Residential Program.

Qualifications

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
  • Good general health, with a high energy level, and able to lift 35-40 pounds
  • Read and speak English proficiently
  • Financial stability
  • Completion of six months volunteering in Casa's Residential Program

 

A criminal history and background check of each potential foster parent will be completed prior to foster placement of a child.

Responsibilities

  • To feed, clothe, nurture and care for the children placed in your home
  • To participate as a team member in developing and implementing the children's Plan of Service and therapeutic regime
  • To obtain appropriate medical care
  • To support the children's primary attachment to biological parents
  • To communicate regularly with the children's Foster Care Worker regarding their welfare
  • To complete 20 hours of ongoing training annually
  • To follow the DISCIPLINE POLICY of Casa de Esperanza at all times

Corporal punishment is never allowed in Casa de Esperanza foster homes.

Support services

  • Training in child development and the emotional, psychological, and developmental needs of abused, neglected, and HIV-positive children
  • Foster parent support group
  • Professional and emotional support from Casa de Esperanza's staff, who are available for consultation and family therapy

Compensation

Casa de Esperanza's foster families agree to provide for the children's needs without remuneration.
