Volunteers
Community volunteers are essential to the success of Casa
de Esperanza. Working individually or in groups in all aspects of the program, volunteers
provide many needed services. The cost of operating Casa de Esperanza would easily be
double what it is were not for the work of so many volunteers.
Individuals
Residential Program
Community Volunteers in the Residential Program assist the staff with daily care of
children and essential household tasks.
Qualifications
- At least 18 years of age
- Willingness to make a 6-month commitment to work 3 hours per
week on a scheduled basis
- Good general health
- Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships
with others
- Flexibility
- Patience

- Five references
- Current TB screening
- Volunteer orientation and training
A criminal history and background check of each
potential volunteer will be completed prior to a volunteer placement. No person with a
criminal record will be allowed to work with the children.

Professional Services
Individuals volunteering in their professional capacity provide essential services in the
areas of medical care, finance and information technology.
Support Services
Volunteers with clerical or computer skills assist administrative staff with data entry,
filing, photocopying, mailing and clerical work.
Operations
Volunteers are always needed to assist with building maintenance, landscaping, grounds
keeping, plumbing, electrical repairs, painting, auto mechanics, pest control, and general
maintenance.
Special Events
Casa de Esperanza's major fundraising gala is held annually in the Spring. Volunteers assist with
planning, invitations, registration, decorations, entertainment, live and silent auctions,
set-up and clean-up.
Persons interested in arranging third party fundraisers
must contact Casa de Esperanza prior to scheduling an event or using Casa de Esperanza's
name in any publicity.
Groups
Adopt a Yard or
Adopt a House
To adopt one of the houses for a 3 to 6 month period, members of groups take
responsibility for cutting and trimming the lawn on a rotating basis and/or helping with
house maintenance and repairs.
One-time projects
These projects vary in size and skill level and occur throughout the year. Projects may
include:
- Yard clean-up
- Major or minor landscaping
- Painting or small repairs
- Re-roofing, remodeling, interior or
exterior painting of agency buildings
- Building playgrounds, decks or fences
